About the Author

Meet Jodi Lynn Pavlock

Author, filmmaker, speaker, and survivor-story advocate whose autobiography, Jekyll Can’t Hyde, explores love, deception, resilience, and reclaiming independence.

Raised in Bergenfield, New Jersey, Jodi developed an early love of music through trumpet and singing. Her professional life has included nearly two decades transporting students, as well as work connected to casino hosting, notary services, and New Jersey real estate.

Writing Jekyll Can’t Hyde gave Jodi a way to revisit difficult experiences in her own voice—combining honesty, humour, pain, and the determination to move forward. Today she continues developing her story for the screen while speaking about recognizing abusive patterns, supporting survivors, and creating a life beyond what happened.

An honest, witty, survivor-centred account that does not soften the contradictions of staying—or the courage of leaving. Tap a card to reveal a line from the story.

Behind the Public Face

Story themes

Jekyll Can’t Hyde examines the painful distance between who someone appears to be and how they behave behind closed doors. Jodi’s experience reveals how affection and manipulation can become intertwined—and why recognizing the pattern does not always make leaving simple.

The book does not diagnose anyone. It describes Jodi’s lived experience and the behaviour she witnessed—using “narcissistic abuse” as a description of that experience, not a medical diagnosis of another person.
